The best of the Islamic web!

What is Islamosphere?

Islamosphere is a network of bloggers who are Muslims or who are Islam-friendly bloggers. Islamosphere allows these Islami-bloggers to network, read others’ blogs, and showcase their own blogging efforts.

Why would I join Islamosphere?

Islamosphere gives you the opportunity to have your blog link appear on other Islami-blogs far and wide, and for you to discover new and exciting Islami-blogs yourself.

How it works is this, after you have joined Islamosphere, whenever you write a new post your blog client pings Blogrolling (or you do it yourself manually) to tell us you've got brand spanking new content. It then shifts your blog to the top of the Islamosphere blogroll, which then appears on all the other members' blogs.

Why is this good for you and your blog? Well, it helps your blog reach readers that wouldn't otherwise be aware of a) your blog and b) that your blog has new content on it.

In the future, God-willing, I hope to showcase a ‘best of the Islamosphere’ here on the Islamosphere website. If you have any good ideas, feel free to email Umm Yasmin.

Who can join Islamosphere?

To be eligible to be an Islamosphere blogger you must:

  • Own and maintain a family-friendly(1) working blog(2)
  • Be Muslim or Islam-friendly(3)
  • Be willing to have a link back to Islamosphere, and include a dynamic blogroll that displays the latest twenty updated blogs, somewhere on your site that is accessible to readers.

How do I join Islamosphere?

Step One
Put a link back to Islamosphere on your site. You can use plain text, choose a button or chicklet, or even create one yourself if you feel so inspired.

Step Two
Put the code for the dynamic blogroll somewhere on your site, accessible to readers. The appropriate code is available here.

Step Three
After you have put the link back to Islamosphere, and the blogroll code on your blog, email Umm Yasmin to request membership. Please be aware that there is a real human at the other end of the email, and membership requests may take up to 24 hours to be assessed.

How does my recently updated blog get sent to the top of the Islamosphere blogroll?

I am using the Blogrolling.com service, showing the twenty most recently updated blogs listed in Islamosphere. If in the unlikely event your blog service or client does not automatically ping Blogrolling, you can manually ping by filling in your website name and address here.

Is Islamosphere a blog directory?

No. Islamosphere is a dynamically updated blogroll that is shared between members. There is already an Islamic blog directory you may wish to consider joining (I did).

Is there a complete list of all the members of Islamosphere?

Yes, here at Islamosphere. Look over to your right.

Who maintains Islamosphere?

Umm Yasmin from Dervish.

Where did the idea for Islamosphere come from?

Credit goes to Homespun Bloggers, which seems to have gone into hibernation but made its mark on the wider blogosphere.

How do I leave Islamosphere?

We're sorry to see you go, but just email Umm Yasmin to notify me of your desire to leave.

The fine-print

(1) Nothing obscene, libelous, defamatory, hateful, racially or ethnically objectionable, and no violating the privacy of any third party.
(2) Does not include blogs that are just aggregates of links and syndicated feeds to prop-up advertising.
(3) This just means no disrespecting Allah, glorified be He; the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him; any of the Prophets or holy figures, peace be upon them; the holy Qur’an; inter-sectarian takfiring; or apologetics with the aim of converting Muslims away from Islam.
